UPCA hosts meeting of NCR Architecture School Deans and Heads

Deans and Program Heads of architecture schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) gathered last 20th November 2023 to jumpstart discussions of the future of architecture education in the Philippines. This meeting was organized by the Philippine Architecture Schools Association (PhilASA), formerly known as CODHASP (Council of Deans and Heads of Architecture Schools in the Philippines) and was the first face-to-face meeting since the easing of pandemic restrictions. The meeting was held at the Museum of Filipino Architecture (MOFA) at the UP College of Architecture Diliman.

Among NCR architecture schools and programs, present were: Adamson University Dean Sylvester Seño, Enderun Colleges Architecture and Design Program Head Jean Cornejo, National University-Manila Dean Chona Ponce PhD, National University-Fairview Program Chair for Architecture Aurora Panopio, Manuel L. Quezon University Dean John Fernandez PhD, Mapua Institute of Technology Dean Gloria Teodoro, Universal Colleges of Paranaque Architecture Department Head Jan Michael Gillera, University of the East Architecture and Design Program’s Officer-in-Charge Jan Michael de Olazo, University of the Philippines College of Architecture Dean Luis Maria Bo-ot PhD and Extension Program Director Leonido Gines Jr. Two PhilASA members, Dean John Fernandez and Dean Gloria Teodoro also serve as members of the Technical Committee of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which is currently reviewing the country’s architecture curriculum.
