The UP College of Architecture (UPCA) invites architects, educators, housing professionals, students, and members of the design community to BEYOND SHELTER: Housing Design as a Catalyst for Policy Reform and Nation-Building, a hybrid conference that examines the role of architecture and housing design in shaping more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient communities.
The conference will be held on 6 November 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, via Zoom and at the Benito Sy Pow Auditorium, UP College of Architecture, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
About the Conference
Housing extends beyond the provision of shelter. It intersects with public policy, community development, affordability, sustainability, climate resilience, and nation-building. BEYOND SHELTER brings together practitioners and academics to discuss how design and architecture can contribute to addressing the evolving housing needs of communities.
The conference features discussions on the right to housing, community empowerment, public housing, incremental housing, renewable energy in socialized housing, and climate-adaptive shelter solutions. Through these conversations, participants can gain perspectives on the challenges and opportunities surrounding housing development in the Philippines and in the broader global context.
