TABANGHAY 2026: An Inter- Year Level Design Workshop
TERRA AKYAT: Regenerative Solutions for Del Carmen’s Ecotourism Circuit 
From a history of deforestation and extraction to a thriving protected watershed, Siargao Peak—the island’s highest point—stands as a powerful symbol of ecological transformation and community stewardship. Home to unique endemic species, native medicinal plants, vibrant bird habitats, and hidden caves, this landscape calls for thoughtful, low-impact design interventions.
As part of the draft Del Carmen Local Tourism Development Plan 2026–2035, this design charrette invites landscape architecture students to re-envision the Siargao Peak / Elevated Trail Project within the Watershed Adventure and Learning Circuit. Guided by the Visayan concept of Hayahay—expressing peace, balance, comfort, and fulfillment—participants will tackle site-specific challenges such as rugged terrain, limited amenities, and decaying trail infrastructure.
What We Will Explore & Design:
Low-Impact Interventions: Designing elevated boardwalks, trail systems, and viewing decks that protect fragile ecosystems.
Circular Economy & Nature-Based Solutions:** Integrating sustainable materials, closed-loop systems, and regenerative design practices.
Culture & Stewardship: Honoring local biodiversity while creating opportunities that uplift local livelihoods and foster Hayahay.
Join us as we collaborate, innovate, and design light-footprint solutions for Del Carmen’s most iconic peak!
