The UP Diliman College of Architecture, with the active participation of its Architecture Student Council (UPCA) has successfully launched its annual culminating festivities. Aptly dubbed as "HARAYA" - a vernacular term meaning imagination. The week-long festivities highlighted the best works of the College of Architecture, from its students (Masters & Undergraduate), as well as research works from UPCA's faculty.
This year, HARAYA's Building 1 Upper Ground Exhibit featured an upgraded gallery styling for all those those who have successfully passed their thesis deliberations in the BS Arch, and B Landscape Arch programs. It served as a fitting gift from the College, who recognized that the years of hard work spent by the students who will graduate should be given due recognition.
The lower ground exhibit featured curious class exercises facilitated by the professors of UPCA. Among the functional exhibits was the ARCH 23 wasterial lamps projects under Professor Dodi Madrid. The students fashioned lighting fixtures out of recycled materials such as PET bottles, CD's and DVD's.
Another interesting functional exhibit was the set-up done by the ARCH 20 class under Prof. Gerard Joson. Students were tasked to experiment with native materials in a form-finding exercise that ultimately make their way as actual constructed interior "dividers."
Masters students of the 'Pamana' group under Prof. Jojo Mata also showcased their accomplishments in documenting heritage structures in Sta. Catalina, Carcar, Cebu.
This year's Haraya is a testament not only to the creativity of UPCA's students but also to the Professors' uncanny ability to bring forth such talent amongst the young brilliant pliable minds that reside in the College.
WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR HARAYA SPONSORS!
