RESEARCH PROGRAM MANDATE
The University of the Philippines College of Architecture (UPCA) continues to undertake in various research and creative work activities in support of the University’s goal of becoming a research university. These endeavors are done in accordance with the Vision and Mission of UPCA, that is, to “develop research and creative work through the establishment and maintenance of research studios and laboratories that will generate new and innovative knowledge” while educating, engaging, and serving the society “to improve and enhance quality of life.”
The Research Office tabulates and compiles research projects, presentations and publications by the Faculty, REPS and students; promotes national and international conferences/seminars that are organized and participated by the College; promotes and strengthens research activities through the Handbook of Architectural Research which are distributed to graduate students during the annual assembly at the start of the academic year.
The Research Office gathers data from the faculty for research collaterals in promoting the research agenda of the College; updates and standardizes the undergraduate and graduate thesis formats with the guidance of the program directors of the academic programs; and provides seminar-workshops related to research such as topic generation and publication to journals.
Every semester, the Research Office assists in the submission of application of faculty members for RLC/CWLC, coordinates with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) regarding the submission of faculty members with their progress or final reports; and helps in reviewing of submitted abstracts from the College before the submission of full papers to a conference.
