EXTENSION PROGRAM MANDATE
Aside from teaching and research, extension services is one of the three main mandates of UP as the Philippines' only national university. Extension supports the active participation of members of the UP community in making their contribution towards solving the many critical developmental problems in our country.
According to the 77th University Council (April 16, 2002) - “Extension is the provision of service by an academic unit, faculty, staff, and students (outside of course requirements), individually, or as a group, to the people or other organizations. This function of the University is a contribution to achieving excellence in social and public service. Extension generates, validates and applies knowledge that can enrich instruction and research.”
