Studying Architecture ​in UP Diliman

​Being a student of the University of the Philippines Diliman has always been a matter of pride for all those who have been privileged to be named Iskolar ng Bayan (Scholar of the People). The University's battle cry has always been Honor and Excellence in the service of the nation; upholding the principle that for each and every action of its graduates and students, excellence must always be pursued without sacrificing honor. 

The College of Architecture, as an individual academic unit of UP Diliman, is notable for its nurturing academic culture.  The environment is highly competitive, stressing on constructive inputs on how students will be able to hone their creative and analytical skills to their fullest potential.  The College of Architecture, since its inception has produced highly skilled graduates of the designed environment that are ready for future professional practice in the Philippine realm and beyond.

UPD Architecture Student Council
​(UPD ASC)

The University of the Philippines Diliman Architecture Student Council (UPD ASC) is the governing student body of the UPD College of Architecture. It is composed of duly-elected officers from the student community, namely the standard bearers, the councilors and committee heads, the batch representatives, the Landscape Architecture representative, the Arki representative to the University Freshie Council, and the Arki representative to the University Student Council. The UPD ASC works closely with the administration, the faculty, the alumni, and the students to serve the college as they strive together towards honor and excellence.

UP Council of Architecture Student Leaders
​(UP CASTLE)

The Council of Architecture Student Leaders, or CASTLE, is the conglomeration of the organizations based in, housed by, and recognized by the UPCA. It is comprised of the standard bearers of each organization and presided over by the UPD ASC Vice Chairperson for Internals.

College Student Organizations


UP Architecture Forum   
​(UP AF)

The UP Architecture Forum is the longest standing student organization in the College of Architecture. It was recognized by the college on August 18, 1981. During its existence, Arki Forum has launched projects and participated in college and university wide activities. It has sponsored competitions, exhibits, symposia and other activities to further develop the creative faculties of the college constituents. Within the organization, Arki Forum has always been a family to its members, helping each one grow - both within the field of architecture and as individuals.

ARKAIRA

​ARKAIRA (est 1983) is the only performing arts organization in the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Architecture, providing a platform for harnessing and exhibiting talents of UP architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design students in the domains of band, choir, dance, and theater. The organization has been an avenue for creative energies and expression of the college’s constituents by engaging entertainment and encouraging cultural growth in the college, as well as in university-wide events such as Hiyas ng Arki, Haraya, and Karolfest among others.

Architectural Students Association of the Philippines - UP Chapter   (ASAPHIL-UP)

Founded in 1986, the Architectural Students Association of the Philippines- UP Chapter is the largest and premier academically-oriented student organization established in the UP College of Architecture.

ASAPHIL-UP currently has three major trusts, Architectural Education, Social Relevance, and Environmental Awareness, which serves as a guide on what current projects and events the organization hold.

UP Task Force Arki   (UP TFA)

The University of the Philippines Task Force Arki (UP TFA) is UPCA's only service-oriented student organization. Established in 1986 at the height of martial law and student-led activism, its founders were compelled to action by the worsening urban housing crisis and sought to attract like-minded students to nurture patriotism and social awareness.
Today, the organization aims to explore and implement architectural and design solutions that respond to various societal issues in order to uplift and empower Filipinos in all levels of the society. It achieves its goal through activities such as talks and symposiums, research and joint building projects, and community outreach programs, among others.

UP Circle of Landscape Architecture Students   (UPCLAS)

UPCLAS is the Philippines’ first organization for Landscape Architecture students, based at the College of Architecture in the University of the Philippines – Diliman campus. UPCLAS was established in 1989 and has been promoting Landscape Architecture through projects that
stimulate the creative mind in designing a better future for the environment around us, and by upholding the organization’s objectives and beliefs in the society.

United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary - UP Diliman Chapter   (UAPSA-UPD)

The United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary - UP-Diliman Chapter (UAPSA-UPD) is an institutional member of UAPSA National Inc., the prime and duly-recognized student organization of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP).
In keeping up with the tradition of honing future-forward but socially-aware designers, UAPSA-UPD likewise empowers students by engaging in ventures in line with the standards and ideals of the United Architects of the Philippines and its mother organization, UAPSA National Inc.
Rooted on the principles of solidarity, comradeship, and holistic development, oriented towards the advancement of awareness on both national and university issues, UAPSA-UPD thrusts to become the epitome of merit and excellence in its selected field of endeavor.

UP Architecture Registration Corps (UP ARC)

The UP Architecture Registration Corps is the official registration committee of the UP College of Architecture. Dean Aurello Jugilon established UP ARC in 1979 making it one of the oldest organizations in the college. The organization aims to lighten the registration process and efficiently serve the students of the college. UP ARC also serves as the de facto honor society of the UP College of Architecture. As of 2019, the organization is composed of more than 20 diligent, punctual and brilliant members. UP ARC’s members are not only solution-oriented students but are also leaders who have a heart for service.
